W.F. (Bill) Elliott

W. F. (Bill) Elliott was raised in Montreal, where after attending Sir George Williams University and McGill, he joined Trizec Corporation in 1965.  His real estate career began as a Leasing Agent at Trizec’s flagship property, Place Ville Marie.

In 1969 Bill joined Montreal based Cummings Properties Ltd. and immediately transferred to Calgary responsible for the leasing of the Company’s six Calgary and Edmonton buildings.  When Trizec acquired Cummings in 1971 Bill was relocated to Vancouver to complete the leasing of Royal Centre a 450,000 square foot, multi-use development.  In 1973 Mr. Elliott returned to Calgary as Trizec’s Leasing Manager for Western Canada and a rapidly growing portfolio.

In 1980 Bill was named Vice President, Western Canada.  This was followed in 1986 by his being appointed Senior Vice President, Western Canada responsible for overseeing the leasing, property management and financial performance of a portfolio that was to grow to over 7 million square feet.  Included in this portfolio were a number of award winning multi-use developments such as: Bankers Hall and Western Canadian Place, Calgary; Alberta, Canada Place, Edmonton, Alberta and Winnipeg Square, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In 1992 Bill moved to Dublin, Ireland where he continued his relationship with Trizec by advising his client on major real estate activities in Western Europe.  Such information included relevant economic trends, market surveys and potential joint venture partnerships.

Throughout Bill’s career he has been actively involved in community affairs and none more so than the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Calgary.  Having joined BOMA Calgary in 1970 Bill served on the Board of Directors for a number of years and as President in 1983.  During his involvement a permanent Executive Director was hired and the BOMA Calgary Awards program was initiated.  Upon his return from Europe in 1995 he continued his involvement with BOMA Calgary and in 1997 was named Chairman, BOMEX 1999.  BOMEX 1999, held in Calgary, was a hugely successful national convention setting attendance and financial records.

In recent years Bill has worked for a couple of national development firms involved in leasing and property management activities.
